Even without more electric vehicles, keeping traffic levels steady and retiring older diesel trucks could still prevent over 3,300 UFP-related deaths.

This study highlights the importance of cleaner transportation, particularly in neighborhoods with higher proportions of low-income households, immigrants, and visible minorities, which are often located near major roads. These areas stand to benefit the most from reduced vehicle emissions, as they are disproportionately affected by air pollution.
